Classical Education
One way ELC implements the classical approach to learning is through the Memory Period. In this developmental stage of learning, teachers begin each day with memory work (i.e., Latin, poems, quotes, memory verses, spelling, and more) and engaging songs, chants, and call-outs. Taking time to go over this material on a daily basis enables students to learn valuable memory skills in a fun and engaging way.
Reading and Writing
At ELC, students learn to read through Phonics Museum phonics-based program. We encourage independent reading using leveled readers. Students learn to write proper letters and numbers using Squiggle Squad and penmanship practice books.
Grammar
We nurture a love of the English language, along with an understanding of how it's correctly used. We help students learn how to break down sentences and identify the parts of speech. We use Shurley English Jingles.
Literature
One key to a classical education is an exposure to rich literature. Students are read to daily from classic literature that engages students, builds imagination, emphasizes moral character, and develops vocabulary and a love for reading.
Mathematics
ELC uses Horizons Math because it uses a spiral-learning method to help students master concepts through introducing, reviewing, and reinforcing specific skills.
Science
Our science curriculum is Apologia or The Good & the Beautiful with supplemental activities and field trips.

History & Geography
We teach excellent and trustworthy history and geography! In Grammar school we study US & world history through stories, historical documents and songs. Geography is taught using Geography Songs and maps.
